There can’t be many places on Earth that can compare to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for hiking. The pristine wilderness, majestic mountains, sparkling streams, and crystal clear lakes are the perfect environments in which to enjoy the outdoors and appreciate the beauty of our very special area.
Many unique landscapes surround Jackson, including sagebrush meadows on the valley floor, aspen and pine forests on mountainsides, and alpine tundras at higher altitudes. And depending upon the time of year that you visit, you may see a vast carpet of colorful wildflowers, a yellow, orange, and red tapestry of fall foliage, snowy vistas of sparkling white, and wildlife of all kinds – elk, bison, moose, rabbits, fish, eagles, martens, otters, and more! It’s hard to say what kind of amazing things you’ll see and do while hiking in and around the Grand Teton Mountains.
Don’t worry about your fitness level; the trails around Jackson vary from nice evening strolls to comprehensive, multiple day journeys around the park. You choose whether you’d like a challenging day of steep ascents, a scenic overview of the spectacular mountains, or a firsthand view of the streams, ponds, and lakes that comprise the aquatic
There are a number of guides that can aid in your journey, or of course you can set out on your own. Please keep in mind that the trails you will be on are at least 6,000 feet in elevation. Prepare yourself to avoid altitude sickness and be sure to pack rain and foul weather gear.
