Snowshoeing
Jackson Hole, Wyoming Snowshoeing
Winter in Wyoming can be very harsh, but its beauty is also unmatched. The usual bustle of nature is quieted and a peaceful calm comes over the forest. A sunny afternoon following a winter storm offers a soft, blanketed landscape sparkling like a billion diamonds. What better way to enjoy natures wonder during these winter months than a snowshoe trek?
Throughout the Jackson Hole Valley, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Park are countless trails and routes to explore. Stop in a mountaineering shop in town to purchase a map and ask questions. The experience found in these shops is well worth the visit in gaining local knowledge on safety and advice on where to embark.
However, if you would feel safer joining a group led by an experienced naturalist rather than venturing out on your own, there are many options available. Snowshoeing tours in the area generally offer lunch and snowshoe rentals as well.
